All conference sessions will take place in the Feinberg Theater at the Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies , centrally located on South Michigan Avenue just steps from the heart of Chicago's cultural scene. Founded in 1924 as Chicago's College of Jewish Studies, Spertus 610 S. Michigan moved into its current location in November 2007.
Designed by the award-winning Krueck and Sexton Architects, this glass-fronted building features a 10-story faceted window wall that brings natural lighting and the outdoors inside. It stands directly across the street from Grant Park and boasts breathtaking views of Grant Park, Millennium Park, Lake Michigan, and one of the city's most beloved landmarks, Buckingham Fountain .
Lunches and coffee breaks, included in your conference registration fee, are provided exclusively by Wolfgang Puck Catering with seasonal ingredients sourced from Chicago's regional suppliers. Mouthwatering lunches are served in the Crown Family Great Hall on the 9th floor, so be sure to take in the panoramic view of Chicago's skyline while you're dining.
Conference Dinner (19 September)
All participants are invited to join us Monday evening for the conference dinner at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) . Located just one block east of the Magnificent Mile , the MCA offers outstanding examples of visual art from 1945 to the present with a strong focus on surrealism, minimalism, conceptual photography, and work by Chicago-based artists. After dinner, wander the galleries and enjoy the collections, or take in the view of Lake Michigan from the atrium. The conference dinner is included in your registration fee; additional guest tickets are available for purchase at a rate of $60 each. Catering is provided by Wolfgang Puck Catering.
Chicago Skyline Boat Tour (20 September)
One of the best ways to see the city is from the water, so we have scheduled an optional boat cruise along the Chicago River and Lake Michigan shoreline. The First Lady sets sail Tuesday evening, and of course cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served! Tickets are $50 per person and available for purchase when you register for the conference .
